Twilight

After a long and tiring day
The sun dips down the horizon
Gently it withdraws its nurturing rays
Over countries numbering a ‘gazillion’
Just before the night takes over
There comes a time,
With little rays of sunlight left over
Interspersed with silver moonbeams brighter than dime
While night flowers bloom in all their beauty
A cool, gentle breeze wafts by
Carrying with it a sense of tranquility
As a gentle light fills the sky
Out scampers a badger
Along with an owl and a bat
While mice, fearing for their lives scamper
Even outrunning a surprised cat!
The air is filled with the noise
Of various night creatures
As they get ready with poise
For their routine night ventures
Oh! How I wish I could stay
Locked in time before the arrival of night?
For, no matter what others say,
Nothing is as beautiful as ‘twilight’!
